Warming Hearts and Homes: A Call to End Veteran Homelessness in St. Louis

Dear MOVE Community,

As we look forward to a new year filled with hope and promise, I am compelled to reflect on the challenges faced by our nation's heroes—the brave Veterans who, despite their sacrifices, find themselves without a place to call home. As the Operations Manager of Missouri Veterans Endeavor (MOVE), I am driven by a steadfast commitment to providing long-term supportive housing for Veterans and their families experiencing homelessness.

St. Louis, a city with a rich history and a vibrant community spirit, also faces the harsh reality of bitter winters that can be particularly unforgiving to those without a warm and secure place to retreat. As the cold winds sweep through our city, we cannot ignore the more than 200 Veterans currently enduring the harsh elements while navigating the challenging landscape of homelessness.

At MOVE, we believe that every Veteran deserves not only our gratitude for their service but also a stable and supportive environment to rebuild their lives. Our mission is to be the beacon of hope that guides these brave individuals and their families out of the cold and into the warmth of a home—a place where healing and transformation can take root.

The St. Louis winters are not just a season; they represent a critical time for us to intensify our efforts and work together to end veteran homelessness. It is a call to action that beckons us to extend our hands, open our hearts, and rally behind these heroes who have given so much for our country.

As MOVE continues its mission, we invite you to join us in making a meaningful impact. Here's how you can be part of the solution:

Spread Awareness:

Share our mission with friends, family, and colleagues. The more people who know about MOVE, the greater our collective impact.

Supportive Partnerships:

Forge partnerships with local businesses, organizations, and government agencies. Together, we can create a network of support that extends far beyond what any one entity can achieve alone.

Volunteer and Donate:

Contribute your time, skills, or resources to help MOVE provide the support and housing our Veterans desperately need. Every act of kindness, no matter how small, brings us one step closer to our goal of ending Veteran homelessness in the St. Louis area.

Advocate for Change:

Be a voice for those who may not have the opportunity to speak for themselves. Advocate for policies and initiatives that address the root causes of Veteran homelessness and create lasting solutions.

This winter, let us not only wrap ourselves in warmth but also extend that warmth to those who need it most. Together, we can make a lasting impact and ensure that no Veteran in St. Louis or anywhere else faces the biting cold without the comfort of a home.

Thank you for your unwavering support and dedication to the mission of ending Veteran homelessness.

Warm regards,

Dawn Davis-Stellwag
